The women's teams showed the men the way home in the St Joseph's Classic in aid of the local hospital at West Waterford last week. The women's teams took the first two places, with victory going to Vera Nugent, Tess Reynolds, Colette Ormond and Jenny Sweeney. They shot an excellent 94 points to win by two from another all-women team from Dungarvan - Margaret O'Donnell, Mary Walsh, Marie Fahey and Berta O'Connnor. Michael Culloo's team finished third. On Monday next West Waterford will venture into the pro-am scene for the first time. The brainchild of the President, Frank Cooney, whose prize will be contested on Sunday, the pro-am has attracted a large number of the Irish PGA professionals.
