Top Irish canoeist Ian Wiley takes part in the Penrith International whitewater slalom series in Sydney this weekend. A world class field is expected with representatives from more than 10 countries competing at the Olympic venue.

Three weeks ago in the equivalent event at Penrith, Wiley was well down the field, but he explained that he was in heavy training and only decided late in the day to race. He reports that everything is going well and he is looking forward to competing.
