New Laois manager Padraig Horan suffered a defeat at O'Moore Park yesterday after Wexford coped with his team's early pressure to score a fivepoint win.

At the end of the first quarter, Horan's Laois led 1-4 to 0-2, the goal scored by Liam Tynan. However, Wexford replied with six points in quick succession while Martin Storey scored a goal. In the second half, after a brief rally, Laois were caught napping again and Paul Codd scored Wexford's second goal. Three Codd points in the dying minutes secured Wexford's win.
