A GOOD second-half performance saw Wexford overcome Offaly 2-9 to 1-9 to take the Camogie National League Division Two crown at Semple Stadium on Saturday.

Frees from Elaine Dermody helped Offaly to a 1-6 to 1-5 half-time lead, Wexford’s Lisa Bolger and Arlene Watkins of Offaly exchanging goals.

Once Wexford edged ahead in the 48th minute they held on to the lead and in the final minute of normal time, their pressure paid off as sub Linda Bolger sent a dangerous delivery into the Offaly goalmouth and fellow replacement Stacey Redmond poked the loose ball home to open up a four-point gap.

Offaly did respond with a Siobhán Flannery point, but it was too little too late.

Scorers: Wexford– L Bolger 1-2, S Redmond 1-0, S Kehoe 0-2, E Moran, C O'Connor, S Nolan, B Gordon 0-1 each; Offaly– E Dermody 0-6 (five frees), A Watkins 1-0, T Hannon 0-2, S Flannery 0-1.
