Tom Watson's captain's prize at Ballybunion brought out the best in the locals with victory going to two handicapper Gerard O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan's two under gross gave him 40 points and a one-shot win over Michael Jones and Michael A Farrell. Jim Mulcare won the gross with 31 points. Meanwhile, the Captain's Prize to women at Ballybunion last Sunday week turned out to be a real family affair and will certainly be a day to remember in the Boyle household. Taking the top prize was 34 handicapper Patricia Boyle who recorded a 69 nett. It proved just enough to see off the challenge of her daughter, Orla, playing off 28, who finished on 68. Both members of the Boyle family were some way ahead of the chasing pack which was led by Marie O'Callaghan.
