Waterford scored a two-point win over Cork in an entertaining South-East League final, before 2,500 spectators at Walsh Park yesterday. The winners, managed by former Cork star Gerald McCarthy, trailed by five points - 0-5 to 1-7 - at the interval, the Cork goal coming on the stroke of half-time from corner forward Seanie McGrath. Aided by the wind on the resumption, Waterford asserted themselves and six unanswered points put them in the lead. A Paul Flynn goal with five minutes remaining proved the winner.
