Manchester City will today complete the £4 million signing of Paulo Wanchope after Bradford's late bid to secure the services of the Costa Rican striker collapsed.

Although the Bradford chairman Geoffrey Richmond matched the fee agreed between Manchester City and West Ham earlier in the week, the lure of teaming up with former world footballer of the year George Weah ultimately proved too tempting.
