ENGLAND’S Justin Rose showed a welcome return to form when shooting an opening round of five-under-par 65 in the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club, Greensboro, North Carolina.

Rose, who carded six birdies and just one dropped shot at the 18th, trails early first round leaders Chez Reavie and Brandt Snedeker by one with Fred Couples in a group of four on 66.

“ It was a pleasing start today. Really was a low stress round of golf,” said Rose. “I hit every fairway today and 17 out of the 18 greens, and the green I did miss it was on the edge of the green, I putted. A good ball striking round. I three-putted the 18 for my only bogey but all in all a good start, ” he added.
