The Fitzgibbon Cup holders, who begin the defence of their title on Thursday, trailed by five points with as many minutes left in regulation time before Eoghan Murphy goaled for the Cork students.

Last year’s Clare under-21 star, Darach Honan, came off the bench to claim two goals and ensure UCC’s progress.
