IN A week when it was confirmed Tyrone forward Ronan O’Neill would undergo surgery for his cruciate ligament injury next Tuesday, the news on the injury front for the county does not get any better.

Kyle Coney, who has been their star attacker during the league, has effectively been ruled out for the rest of the season. The Ardboe player suffered a serious groin injury in the second half of his club’s opening league fixture on Sunday last against Greencastle.

An MRI scan on Tuesday revealed the injury would require surgery.
