TRALEE were last night crowned champions of the Budweiser Super basketball League without touching a ball after their last remaining pursuers, Star of the Sea, were beaten 83-80 by Delta Notre Dame in a deferred league match at the National Arena in Tallaght.

It was Star of the Sea's fourth league defeat in their last five games - a run of dismal results which followed their cup final loss to Ballina exactly a month ago to the day.

Even if joint second placed Star of the Sea and St Vincent's win both their remaining matches they cannot catch Tralee, who have a better record on countback.

. The IBA reappointed Enda Byrt as Irish senior men's coach yesterday.
