Laois SFC Final/ Ballyroan Gaels 0-10 Arles-Killeen 0-7: Ballyroan Gaels were crowned Laois champions for the first time since 1992 at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise yesterday after their victory over first-time finalists Arles/Killeen.

The Gaels will not, however, contest the Leinster championship tie with either the Westmeath or Longford champions on November 5th as they are an amalgamation of the Abbeyleix and Ballyroan Intermediate sides. Instead, Arles/Killeen progress.

Laois under-21 star Michael John Tierney hit seven points for The Gaels, as many points as Arles-Killeen managed in total.

Stradbally Parish Gaels were crowned minor champions for the first time in 18 years after they defeated Portlaoise 3-8 to 0-10.

SCORERS: Ballyroan Gaels: S Conroy (0-2, 2f); MJ Tierney (0-7, 4f), M Brennan (0-1).

Arles/Killeen: B McDonald (0-1), J Enright (0-4, 4f), D Brennan (0-2).
