The 13th proved lucky for Joy Binchy at Bantry golf club on Easter Saturday. Joy scored the first ace at the hole when she fired an eight iron tee-shot into the hole. She was playing in the company of her husband Dan, who missed the great moment while trying to protect himself from the elements, and Jimmy and Joan O'Rourke. Rynhart, who manufacture bronze ornaments and statues, are to present Joy with a special trophy to mark the occasion. Meanwhile, holes-in one were plentyful at Cahir Park last week when the Classic to mark the occasion of the opening of the new clubhouse was played. No fewer than three were recorded on the day. George Hackett holed out at the 150-yards ninth and Diarmuid O'Connor and Donal O'Connor (no relation) each aced the par three 16th.
