DUBLIN SPORTS AWARDS:THE SECOND annual Dublin Sports Awards, hosted by Gazette Group Newspapers in association with the Clarion Hotel Liffey Valley, were held at the Clarion Hotel Liffey Valley on Saturday night.

The winner of this year’s sports star award was Katie Taylor in recognition of her achievements last year, which included her third consecutive title at the European Boxing Championships in Hungary, and her third World championship title in Barbados.

The team of the year was the All-Ireland-winning Dublin women’s senior footballers, who put in a commanding performance against Tyrone at Croke Park, landing the countys first national senior title in 15 years.

Nominees for the Dublin Sports Star of the Year included Ireland soccer star Keith Fahey, All-Ireland winner Amy McGuiness and up-and-coming athlete Sarah Murray.

Nominees for team of the year included soccer World Cup winners Lycee De Francais/St Killian’s DSD, Lucan Sarsfields Under-14 camogie team and rugby team Coolmine RFC.
