Stradbally bridged a 56year gap at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise when they won their first Laois senior football championship title since 1941.

Portlaoise deservedly led 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval, and Stradbally's sharp shooter Damian Delaney crowned a poor first half display by driving a penalty wide. Stradbally trailed 0-6 to 0-10 midway through the second half, but then suddenly came to life with points by Delaney and a great goal by Gregory Ramsbottom. Paul Molloy goaled again for Stradbally three minutes from time.
