A FINE second half display by St Mel's, Longford, participating in the competition for the first time, saw them past Marian College at North Kildare yesterday. Marian were the better side in the first half and led 10-0 at the interval thanks to a Shane Martin try and a Michael Reddy penalty and conversion.

Midway through the half David Quinn managed a try for St Mel's and then kicked over the conversion. Francis Lennon got the crucial score when he crossed the line for an unconverted try.
