Manchester Utd 1 Crystal Palace 2(after extra time): Glenn Murray headed the winner in extra time as Crystal Palace stunned Manchester United in the League Cup quarter-finals. Murray nodded in a free-kick from Darren Ambrose, the scorer of the opening goal, as Palace overturned the odds at Old Trafford.

Murray appeared marginally offside before heading in from a dangerous free kick after 98 minutes to give the London team a narrow lead, which proved enough as they clung on to reach the semi-finals.

The draw for the semi-finals, which will take place in January, pitted Palace against Cardiff while the plum tie sees Manchester City take on Liverpool.

Semi-final draw

Manchester City v Liverpool

Cardiff City v Crystal Palace
