Lee Murtagh kept Shelbourne's revival on the boil with a late winner as they came from behind to earn a vital three points at Tolka Park.
Shels’ tenacious display also meant they recorded their first back-to-back wins of the season. Limerick deserved their lead from an incisive move on 17 minutes. Dave O’Leary flicked on a Shaun Kelly throw to put Axel Bossekota in to drill home off his right foot for his seventh goal of the season.
Shelbourne slowly worked their way into the game and Limerick ’keeper Barry Ryan scooped the ball off the toe of Murtagh having just parried a Derek Doyle shot to ensure his team’s interval lead.
Similar to last week against Cork, Shelbourne were far better after the interval and they were level after 52 minutes.
The industrious Murtagh nicked the ball off Brian O’Callaghan and it ran through for strike-partner Adam Hanlon to rifle left-footed to the bottom corner of the net.
Shels got their winner on 80 minutes. Brennan showed great feet to work a one-two with Hanlon before crossing for Murtagh who fired home.
