St Michael's qualified for the Leinster Schools' Junior Cup quarter-finals with a convincing second half display against Cistercian, Roscrea, yesterday. There was little to choose between the sides during a competitive first half which ended without either side scoring.

St Michael's gradually got on top after the restart and their first score arrived when number eight Mark McInerney converted a penalty.

Captain Ross O Nuallain got the first try of the game when he crossed over in the corner after 45 minutes.

Roscrea spent most of the second half inside their own half and an outstanding individual try by Gareth Smith, converted by McInerney, ended the game as a contest.
