SKERRIES advanced to the quarter-finals of the Leinster Schools Senior Cup Section A yesterday, with a 21-10 win over St Benildus at Sutton.

Skerries went in front through a Dermot O'Neill penalty after 20 minutes but that lasted just two minutes with the St Benildus out-half, Aidan Blake, turning in a kick from the left.

Kevin Doheny, then scored a soft try for St Benildus which Blake duly converted.

On 55 minutes the sides were, level when centre Frankie Brown skipped through for a try and this1 time O'Neill - having failed with- a kickable penalty - made no mistake with the conversion.

O'Neill stretched the Skerries lead to 16-10 with two great kicks and then in the dying stages Derek Keane, despite playing with a dislocated thumb, sealed the issue with a touchdown.
