SCHOOLS RUGBY:Centre Ronan Skehan kicked Newbridge College to a 16-10 win over Wesley College in a Leinster Schools' Vinnie Murray Cup first-round replay at North Kildare yesterday to earn a second-round shot at Gonzaga College on Friday.

Wesley were given the boost of an eighth-minute try from their outstanding frontrow forward Ivan Campbell.

Newbridge struck back with a try by wing Niall O'Brien from outhalf Sam Sutton's crossfield kick. Centre Skehan converted for a two-point lead at the break.

Skehan slotted three penalties in the second period to take the Kildare side into a comfortable advantage.

Wesley responded with a second try from Campbell in the last quarter.
