AIDEEN ROGERS from Dublin was the best of the two Irish players in the Trygg Hansa Open in Stockholm following a level par round of 73. Maureen Madill was four strokes behind after a 77.

They trail Swede Lotta Neumann, who is chasing her third successive title, and rookie Kristel Mourgue d'Algue from France, who never exceeded par in her five under 68.

. Baltinglass professional Michael Murphy was the best of the Irish competitors with a 74 in the first round of the £150,000 Belfry PGA seniors championship yesterday.

Murphy is well placed in joint 13th position after two birdies four bogies and 12 pars.

Waterville's Liam Higgins looked set to stay close to the leaders when he had dropped only one shot in 16 holes.
