RANGERS strolled into the Scottish League Cup semi-finals last night, ending Hibernian's wafer thin resistance at lbrox despite hardly having to move out of second gear.

Easter Road old boy Gordon Durie haunted Hibernian again with a 29th minute opener and substitute Peter Van Vossen added a second-half double.

Then, after Darren Jackson missed an 87th minute penalty for the visitors, German Jorg Albertz added insult to injury with a blockbusting hard free-kick, which tore past Jim Leighton.

Man of the match Durie scored four times in a 7-0 thrashing on Hibernian's last visit to lbrox last December and the story was much the same last night.

So Walter Smith's champions join Hearts, Dunfermline and first division Dundee in today's last-four draw.
