RANGERS chairman David Murray took the wraps off his biggest ever signing last night - a £40 million Ibrox investor.

RANGERS chairman David Murray took the wraps off his biggest ever signing last night - a £40 million Ibrox investor.

Bahamas based Joe Lewis has bought a 25 per cent stake in the Glasgow club with what is being described as the biggest ever single investment in British football.

The blue chip deal will help launch Rangers and Murray, who retains a controlling interest at Ibrox, towards the new millennium and the European League the chairman foresees.

Murray has diluted his 82 per cent stake in the club with the £40 million to go towards strengthening the team for manager Walter Smith, a hotel and leisure complex at Ibrox and a training ground.
