Day one of the All-Ireland schoolgirls basketball league finals at the National Arena served up two cracking contests. In the senior C decider Teresian School forced overtime with two three pointers from Alison Quinn tying the score on 39 points each.

Quinn produced two more long range baskets to condemn Presentation, Bandon, to an agonising defeat.

Meanwhile, Gerry Fitzpatrick, coach with the all-conquering women's team, Snowcream Wildcats, guided Mercy, Waterford, to victory in the cadette A showdown with a late basket from Doireann Shanahan edging out Presentation, Listowel, after the two had failed to produce an outcome in normal time.

Earlier on in the day there were victories for St Fergal's, Rathdowney, in the senior D game while in the cadettes C contest, Presentation Bandon had an easy victory over Scoil Mhuire, Trim, with Nessa O'Keeffe scoring 20 points.
