Sweeper Gheorghe Popescu said yesterday that he was considering following his illustrious Galatasaray and Romania colleague Gheorghe Hagi into retirement from the international stage after his country's 2-0 elimination in the Euro 2000 quarter-finals by Italy.

"I have not yet decided. I don't know if I am going to continue for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers," he said.
