Jason Pollock finished second in the Formula Opel Race behind fellow Ulsterman Peter Duke at a rain-drenched Mondello Park yesterday, which gave Pollock the Irish championship.

Dublin driver Neil Shanahan was less lucky in the Formula Ford Zetec race. Forced out in a first lap tangle with George McAlpine, Philip Keogh of New Ross won the restarted race and Chris Paul was fourth to take over the Irish championship lead from Shanahan with one race to run.
