Anxious that the club's hopes of promotion to Division One not be disrupted by any festive over-indulgence, Preston manager David Moyes asked his players to resist temptation and be on their best behaviour over Christmas. "My players are experienced and we know that we haven't got time to go and party, we have to be dedicated," he said last week. "You can trust us," his players no doubt replied, except perhaps captain Sean Gregan and Mark Rankine, who were arrested at 6.0 a.m. outside their hotel for causing a breach of the peace following the club's Christmas party.
