Old Alexandra beat Pembroke Wanderers 2-0 at Milltown on Saturday, the opening day of the Statoil Leinster League season.

A Muckross side virtually unrecognisable from last season drew 1-1 with Railway Union at Park Avenue, with Johanna Kavanagh cancelling out Martha O'Neill's first half goal.

Glenanne and Genesis also drew 1-1 on Saturday - last season a score draw would have yielded two points but all draws are worth just the one point this season.
