Arthur Numan was last night ruled out of Euro 2000 after a scan revealed he would not recover from the injury to his right foot.

The veteran defender is expected to be replaced by Rangers team-mate Giovanni van Bronckhorst, forcing coach Frank Rijkaard into a reshuffle in the run-up to their semi-final against Italy tomorrow (17.00). Striker Patrick Kluivert and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, however, have recovered from knocks.
