The Nire captured their third Waterford senior football title of the 1990s when they proved too strong for Dungarvan in a most disappointing encounter at Dungarvan yesterday.

Dungarvan raced into a two point lead in a lack-lustre opening quarter, but they failed to score again for 35 minutes.

The standard of play did not improve in the second half despite a Nire goal after eight minutes. Substitute Bobby Power, who had only just come on, got a touch to a centre from his brother, Connie, for the game's only goal.
