New TCD chair

LIAM BREATNACH has been appointed professor in early Irish at Trinity College, Dublin

LIAM BREATNACH has been appointed professor in early Irish at Trinity College, Dublin. The new chair is the result of an anonymous donation of £1m from a British benefactor. Breatnach, from Dublin, is currently an associate professor in TCD's school of Irish. His lecturing experience includes Oxford, Harvard, Bonn and Freiburg. The new chair will enable Trinity to expand the scope of early Irish studies and will facilitate a taught master's course in early Irish. It will also help to develop co-operation with other disciplines in the area of medieval studies.
