GERRY THORNLEY has been appointed rugby correspondent of The Irish Times. A member of the newspaper's sports staff since 1992, Gerry has covered rugby at home and abroad for The Irish Times over the last five years. His first assignment will be with the Irish rugby development squad who leave next Thursday for a five week tour of New Zealand.
