IRISH OLYMPIC prospect Annalise Murphy has opted to sit-out the final day of fleet racing at the Princess Sofia Regatta in Palma today following a run of off-form results.

Competing in her Laser Radial class, the single-hander failed to qualify for the Gold fleet in which a top-10 placing in that division by the end of today’s racing would lead to a place in the medal race tomorrow.

An Irish squad official attributed the sudden drop in form to a temporary loss of rhythm and pointed out that the Rathfarnham sailor hasn’t placed outside the top 10 in any of her events for more than a year.

Meanwhile, Ballyholme Laser sailor James Espey continues to grow in confidence at Mallorca where in lies 21st overall in the Gold fleet.
