Munster have a strong stake in the destination of the Lancome-sponsored Irish Girls Close Championship at Galway Golf Club, as they have three players in the semi-finals. Last year's runner-up, Claire Coughlan (Cork) is in the last four today after her quarter-final success over Finola Donnelly (Forest Little). She had been four up at the turn. She will meet Aida Burke (Charleville) who had the upper hand on Selina Smyth (Massereene).

Marian Riordan (Tipperary) beat Deirdre Judge (Roscommon) while Pamela Murphy (The Island) defeated fellow Dubliner Martina Gillen (Beaverstown) in a struggle which went to the 20th.
