Meath comprehensively defeated a poor Kerry side at Austin Stack Park, Tralee on Saturday evening when they produced a competitive and skilful display.

In a two minute spree just before half time Meath scored 2-1, with Paul Donnelly and Mike Cole the goalscorers. This left them ahead by six points (2-4 to 0- 4).

Meath maintained their dominance in the second half during which Kerry scored only two points, from frees. Meath attacked at will but were guilty of some poor finishing, shooting 14 wides throughout the game.

The final goal of the game five minutes before the end was a real gem, as corner forward Ray Dorran displayed neat close control from a long delivery before quickly rounding his man and scoring.

. Carlow beat Down by 2-16 to 2-12 at Dr Cullen Park in Division Three of the National Hurling League and are now level on points with Wicklow at the top of the table. Wicklow have a game in hand and meet Down away in their next game.
