BASKETBALL:Ballina's Ronan McGarrity will feature in today's Superleague Cup quarter-final against the Tralee Tigers despite receiving a one-match ban this week, writes Gavin Cummiskey.

Basketball Ireland regulations state a player can continue to play while awaiting an appeal hearing.

Ballina yesterday submitted their written appeal and so McGarrity is cleared to play pending the hearing.

The player had been suspended for verbal aggression towards a referee in the November 24th game against Killester.

The Shamrock Rovers Hoops player Ian O'Boyle is expected

to be called before a hearing

next week accused of a similar offence in last week's match against UCD Marian.
