Hurling Kehoe Cup/Mayo 3-9 Kildare 0-16: Mayo were the more impressive side in the second half of yesterday's Kehoe Cup tie at Newbridge. The home side had started better and three Tom Carew points gave them the early lead, which lasted until Derek McCoon followed up a point by scoring Mayo's first goal.

Later in the first half Ken Robinson struck for Mayo's second goal but the sides were level at 2-4 to 0-10 at the half-time break.

Kildare again took the initiative at the start of the second half with two points from Carew but Andrew Howard replied for Mayo with a point and Robinson put them into the driving seat with his second goal.

The visitors then hit three points on the trot late in the game to claim victory.
