EQUESTRIAN:Ireland's Denis Lynch narrowly missed out on a big pay day in Paris yesterday but still managed to pick up €60,000 when second in the Gucci Grand Prix with Thomas Straumann's Abbervail van het Dingeshof.

The Tipperary rider was one of a dozen who made it through to the jump-off round from a starting line-up of 43 at the five-star show.

His double clear on the bay gelding was recorded in a time just fractions off that of the winner, Marc Houtzager of the Netherlands, who won €99,000 on board Sterrehof's Tamino.

At the three-star event in Stockholm, Cian O'Connor riding Ulano, finished sixth in yesterday's Grand Prix won by local Swedish rider Malin Baryard-Johnsson and H&M Tornesch.
