The late decision to call off yesterday's Division Three match between Leitrim and Fermanagh at Páirc Seán Mhíc Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, has led to referee Rob O'Donnell suggesting a local referee should make an earlier inspection if the condition of the playing surface is in doubt so as to avoid inconvenience.

The Donegal referee made his decision 30 minutes before the start of the 2.30 fixture following consultations with both managers, Leitrim's Des Dolan (Leitrim) and Malachy O'Rourke of Fermanagh.

The Central Competitions Control Committee are expected to reschedule the match for next Sunday at the same venue.
