Fota Island golf course has been bought by Killeen Investments, owners of Mount Juliet. It is the first such purchase by the Tim Mahony-headed company since Mount Juliet was officially opened in July 1991. Situated near Cork City, Fota was designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr and Peter McEvoy. It has been the venue for the Irish Men's Open Strokeplay Championship for the last three years and is to play host to the Smurfit Irish Professional Championship on October 9th-12th.
