FRANZ BECKENBAUER is worried that the influx of cash in English soccer could destroy the international market for players. British clubs have increased their income through lucrative new television deals and going on the stock exchange.

In an interview with the German magazine Sport Bild, Bayern Munich chairman Beckenbauer said: "(The English clubs) can do more because many of the clubs can go to the stock exchange to get capital and protect themselves.

"This puts up the prices (for players) internationally. The players go where they can earn the most . . . The Italians will catch up. Spain and Germany have reached the Italian level. Everywhere you look the prices are going up. One day the whole market will collapse.
