IRELAND'S women's world outdoor champion

IRELAND'S women's world outdoor champion. Margaret Johnston crashed out of the Churchill Insurance world indoor bowls singles at Preston last night and, fired a salvo at tournament organisers.

Johnston, one of only two females in the 32 strong field was beaten 1-7, 2-7, 2-7 by the 1990 world champion John Price of Wales in the first round.

Johnston who has beaten world champions Richard Corsie, Willie Wood and Terry Sullivan said later. It's much tougher for women now because we don't get enough competition against the top men.
