A “SLIGHT improvement” has been reported in the condition of injured jockey Matt O’Connor, who remains in a coma at Cork University Hospital, writes Brian O’Connor.

It is eight days since O’Connor (21), was knocked unconscious in a fall at Thurles, and he remains in a medically-induced coma.

However, a former chief Turf Club medical officer, and family relative, Dr Walter Halley, said yesterday: “He is stable and there has been a slight improvement in Matthew’s condition. He remains in an induced coma, but is being slowly weaned off that.”
