Ireland's week-long trip to Canada ended in defeat yesterday when they lost their third place play-off 2-1 to Japan at the Four Nations tournament in Vancouver.

On Saturday second-half goals from Claire McMahon and Jill Orbinson clinched a 20 win for Ireland in a group game. Yesterday McMahon gave the Irish the lead, but Japan struck back twice.
