Ireland's world champions Phillis Nolan and Margaret Johnston went on a scoring spree last night to breathe down the necks of leaders, England, in the race for gold in the Atlantic Rim Bowls Pairs Championship at Llandrindod Wells in Mid-Wales.

Nolan and Johnston powered to a 30-8 victory over Argentina's Maria Cabrera and Maria Ines Canzani and then demolished the USA's Olga Gomez and Anne Barber 35-6.
