Ireland maintained their record of never having lost to the Scots with victory by 27-26 over their Celtic cousins at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Ireland outscored their opponents by four tries (Declan Fitzgerald, David Gannon, Glen Telford and Shane O'Connor) to three with most of the damage being inflicted in the second quarter when the Irish side looked dangerous with ball in hand.

Individually Ireland had encouraging performances from winger Tommy Bowe, and prop Fitzgerald, both of whom have signed apprentice contracts with Ulster. Also impressive was centre Telford, whose ability to break caused problems for the Scotland midfield defence.
