LEADING NEW Zealand rider James McDonald makes his Irish debut in the first race at Clonmel today when he rides the Tommy Stack-trained newcomer Make Me A Star in the fillies maiden.

McDonald (18) is the most successful jockey in New Zealand this year and Ireland is the first stop in a planned tour of Europe.

Last year he won the senior jockeys championship in New Zealand as well as landing the apprentice title.
