THE REPUBLIC of Ireland's under-19 side were beaten for the second successive game at the Midlands tournament last night against Ukraine in Tullamore.

The solitary goal arrived five minutes into the second half when Dmytriy's free-kick curled around the wall and beat goalkeeper Kieron Thorp at the near post.

The Irish had chances to score through Paul Murphy in the first half and Paddy Madden in the second.

Seán McCaffrey's team complete the tournament tomorrow in Athlone (7.30pm) against Spain, 1-0 victors over Portugal yesterday.
