Women's Hockey: Ireland put up another good show against the European champions The Netherlands in Barcelona yesterday, losing just 2-1.

Trailing 2-0, Eimear Cregan pulled a goal back against a Dutch squad that includes eight of the players who won the Champions Trophy in Argentina a month ago.

The Irish squad complete their week in Barcelona with a final game against Holland today and two training sessions tomorrow.

The Irish Hockey Association, meanwhile, has, according to coach Riet Kuper, turned down an invitation to a tournament in Argentina next month, which will feature the hosts, South Africa and Olympic champions Germany, because it clashes with the quarter-finals of the Irish Senior Cup.

On the club front, there was just one first division game in Leinster at the weekend, with seventh-placed UCD moving to within a point of Three Rock by trouncing them 7-0 at Grange Road. Loreto II, Cork Harlequins II and holders Pegasus II all advanced to the semi-finals of the Irish Junior Cup.
